Season 2020-21 Key Dates
While it has been a difficult time, many people have been working hard in the background to try and ensure the 2020-21 cricket season continues like any prior season. While we do not have official dates yet, the below is an outline of expected dates for the season. As we get more information these will be updated as required. Similar to previous seasons, we expect each age group will participate in various carnivals - albeit some of these may take a different form.
u12 and u13 Talent Identification Day This process will be used to identify players to attend the RCP winter program. Proposed date: Sunday 26 July 2020 (time and venue TBC)
RCP If selected via the TID process, players will be invited to attend a 6 week program commencing Monday 10 August 2020 to Monday 14 September 2020. Attendance at this program is optional and is not used as a basis for selecting representative sides later in the season. If you will not be available to attend (if selected), there is no need to attend the TID day above.
Stage 1 trials Trials for u12, u13, and u14 - the proposed dates are Sunday 23 August 2020 for 4 weeks through to Sunday 13 September 2020. It is proposed each age group will have trials over 2 of these Sundays - the exact weekends for each age group are still to be determined. It should also be noted that some u12 and u13 players identified as part of the TID process in July may not be required to attend these trials.
Stage 2 trials Trials will be conducted in October. u12 trials will comprise 3 x 50 over matches. u13, and u14 trials will comprise 2 x 50 over matches PLUS 2 x 20 over matches. Dates in October are yet to be confirmed.
u15 and u16 Trial dates for these ages are yet to be determined. We expect to have 2 x u15 carnival sides plus 1 x u16 side (the u15 development carnival and u16 carnival are likely to be the first week of January 2021 in Armidale and Taree respectively).
Girls Rep Program Dates and formats for the girls representative process will be posted shortly.
2020-21 club season Club fixtures are scheduled to commence on Saturday 10 October 2020 and run for 9 weeks concluding 5 December 2020 (Division 1 finals will be Saturday 5/12/2020 and Sunday 6/12/2020). Given the likely extended season for other winter sports we are still finalising available venues - it is likely fixtures will be scheduled Saturday mornings and afternoons.
Qualification for Representative Side Players must be registered with a BEARS affiliated club AND they are expected to play all Saturday matches. If this does not occur, the player may be deemed ineligible. Players must be nominated by their club prior to attending the TID and stage 1 trials. Player lists will be posted closer to the events.
Trial Costs There will be a small cost to attend the TID, stage 1 and stage 2 trials.
