BEARS Selection Process U14
To all players trialing for this seasons U14 representative teams, the BEARS executive wish you the very best as you put your skills on show.
Thank you for supporting junior cricket in our region and we hope you gain valuable experience and further develop your skills by being a part of our selection process.This season selectors from BEARS, RCI & EDJCA will be selecting approximately 24 x U14 players to represent our zone in upcoming Rep carnivals.
Please Note Costs for Carnivals:
To help parents budget and plan ahead for the expenses associated with providing representative opportunities for children we will clearly list the costs when these are available. Please make yourself aware of the costs prior to nominating your child for possible selection. Any overview of last years costs is available on the main trials page - other useful information is also on the main page - please familiarise yourself with this.Important Logistical Information for Players and Parents:To each session you attend please be sure to bring:Your own cricket kits; broad brim hat and or cap; sunscreen; water; food/snacksWhat to wear:For each of the trial sessions players are required to wear their normal cricket whites.
No representative OR club clothing of any description is allowed to be worn.
A plain white or cream shirt but try to distinguish yourself from others. No representative clothing of any description is allowed to be worn. Tip for young players: The more professional you look the better.Commitments if selected:Please be aware of your obligations as a player if you are selected. There will be 1 training day per week and there maybe some practice games on consecutive Sundays commencing early October as well. You will be required to be part of these important 'pre-carnival' games and training.Representative Trial Process
Stage 1: Selection Process to identify Approx 48-52 players to proceed to Stage 2 trials.
STAGE 1 TRIALS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED AND SUCCESSFUL PLAYERS HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED.
Stage 2: Selection Process to identify Approx 4 teams of players to proceed to Stage 3 trials at two different locations:
STAGE 2 TRIALS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED AND SUCCESSFUL PLAYERS HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED.
Who attends 2nd trial session?
Emails have been sent to Stage 2 participants to register. Registration close Monday 7 September 2020.
Combined BEARS, RCI and EDJCA Players invited to attend after the completion of stage 1.Stage 2's session will mainly consist of players breaking into 4 x teams and playing 2 x T20 games on Synthetic wickets .
Venue: Holland Part Cricket Club, Whites Hill
Date: 13th September 2020 ->
10:00am played on synthetic wickets - NO SPIKES REQ'D.
Please arrive 30 minutes prior to register, complete COVID register and be ready to trial.
Players are to bring their own lunch and water bottles and clearly display your playing number when these are made available on this page.
All invited players will take part in a Match/Game Sense simulation where players will be broken into teams to play against each other.Batting and Bowling orders and logistics of the session is at the discretion of the selectors.At the conclusion of these matches, the selectors for BEARS, RCI and EDJCA will nominate 24 players into 2 teams to attend Stage 3 trials PvP,
Stage 3 - Part one: Selection Process to identify 12 players to be named in the BEAR's State Carnival Team:
STAGE 3 PART 1 TRIALS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED AND SUCCESSFUL PLAYERS SELECTED INTO THE STATE TEAM HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED.
Who attends Stage 3 trial session at Muddies Cricket Club? Those named in the PvP selection trial table below.
Combined BEARS, RCI and EDJCA Players invited to attend after the completion of stage 2.Stage 3's session will consist of players breaking into 2 x teams and playing a PvP 1 x 50 over game or similar at discretion of the selectors on turf so please wear your spikes.
Final selections are based on performance at stage 1 & 2 (including 3) therefore all players should remain aware that no matter which ground they are named at this weekend, they are still eligible for any BEAR's team based on performances.
Venue: Muddies Cricket Club, Multi-Sports Complex, Birkdale

9:30am played on turf wicket - SPIKES ARE REQ'D.
In the following days after this trial 1 x State Carnival Team will be named as they will need to start preparations early due to the dates of the State Carnival. The remaining 12 players that are not named in the State Carnival Team will be eligible to still trial for the DEV Carnival team on 18th October.
Stage 3 - Part one: Selection Process to identify 12 players to be named to trial for the BEAR's Development Carnival Team:
STAGE 3 PART 1 TRIALS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED AND SUCCESSFUL PLAYERS SELECTED TO TRIAL FOR THE DEV TEAM ARE NAMED FURTHER DOWN IN STAGE 3 PART 2.
Venue: Holland Park Club, Whites Hill
Who attends Stage 3 trial session at Holland Park Cricket Club? Those named in the PvP selection trial table below.
In the following days after this trial 1 x Team of 12 players will be named to trial against the remaining 12 players from the trial at Muddies for the naming of the DEV Team.
Stage 3 - Part two: Selection Process to identify 24 players to be named in 2 x BEAR's DEV Carnival Team:
Who attends Stage 3 trial session?
Combined BEARS, RCI and EDJCA Players invited to attend after the completion of stage 2.Stage 3's session will consist of the remaining players that trialed from Stage 2, Part 1 trials breaking into 2 x teams and playing a PvP 1 x 35-40 over game on turf so please wear your spikes .
Venue: Wellington Point Cricket Club
Date: 15th November
Time: 9-30am (35-40 over game)
Wicket: Turf so you will be required to wear spikes.
THE FOLLOWING PLAYERS NAMED IN THE TABLE BELOW ARE INVITED TO ATTEND THE STAGE 3, PART 2 DEVELOPMENT TRIALS.
In the following days after this trial, 2 x Development Teams will be named to play in the Carnival on the Sunshine Coast in January 2021.Teams will be posted on the BEARS website www.bears.org.au
